Philosophy

The interplay of physical, spiritual, and mental elements became the cornerstone of our philosophy. Physical Strength: Beyond the aesthetics, we see weight lifting as a pathway to empowerment. It's about breaking barriers, proving to ourselves that we are capable of more than we imagine. It's a celebration of resilience and the beauty of a body that can be both strong and graceful. Spiritual Balance: Our fitness journey uncovered a spiritual connection, a deeper understanding of self through movement. It's about being present in every lift, finding solace in the rhythm of our breath, and discovering the sacred within the physical. Mental Resilience: The weight room became our sanctuary for building not just muscles but mental fortitude. In facing setbacks, we learned that the mind is a powerful force that can shape our reality. Every challenge became an opportunity to strengthen the most powerful muscle - our mindset. Food as Nourishment: Food is not just fuel; it's a source of vitality. We celebrate a balanced approach to nutrition that feeds both body and soul. It's about savoring the journey of nourishment, finding joy in wholesome, delicious foods that support our overall well-being.

Why War Paint?

Warpaint represents the pride of our lineage of all the strong women that came before us. It is an opportunity to honor the heritage of strength, resilience, and cultural richness associated with our indigenous and creole roots. War paint is a powerful symbolism used as artistic expression as means of adornment, fighting for what is right, to derive strength, promote unity and bonding. War paint is not so much about war, as it is about ceremony. Warriors painted themselves before battle to signify and activate their own medicine (spiritual power), reveal their identity, and for protection. Symbolism and Rituals: War paint was not limited to times of war; it was also used in ceremonies, dances, and spiritual rituals. The designs and colors often held specific meanings, representing aspects like bravery, strength, spirituality, and the connection to the natural world. Identity and Recognition: Different tribes had distinctive patterns and colors, allowing individuals to be recognized by their community. War paint, therefore, served as a form of tribal identity and unity. Preparation for Battle: In times of conflict, warriors would apply war paint as a means of psychological preparation, instilling a sense of courage, protection, and connection to their ancestors. Connection to Nature: Many designs were inspired by elements of nature, such as animals, plants, and celestial bodies. This connection reinforced the spiritual ties between the warriors and the natural world.
